HEATHENS MAKE PLAY-OFFS

Thursday September 19, 2019
CRADLEY have defied the odds to qualify for the 2019 National League Play-Offs.

The Anchor Logistics Heathens, who were latecomers back into the third tier after sitting out last season, have pipped Mildenhall to fourth place by a single point.
It comes after the Fen Tigers were dramatically denied all four league points on offer despite winning at Plymouth on Thursday as the hosts rescued three last gasp heat advantages.
It’s a terrific achievement for the Heathens who were behind their rivals in terms of team building and who have had riders missing at key times.
They now turn their attentions to the end-of-season shootout where they have been selected by table-topping Midlands rivals Leicester in the Semi-Finals with dates for both legs to be confirmed in due course.
Team boss Will Pottinger said: “Naturally we are delighted to qualify for the play-offs after a rollercoaster season.
“We’ll asses the injuries to Dan (Halsey) and Tom (Spencer) and see what the chances are of those two racing in the Semi-Finals.
“If they aren’t able to take their place then we’ll be looking to book the best guests that we possibly can.
“We haven’t done anything straightforward this season but to get this far is a brilliant effort from all the lads.
“To say we put this team together very late on after being accepted back into the National League at such a late stage, I think the lads have given it their all and fair play to them for that.
“We start afresh now though and we look forward to a 30 Heat shootout against Leicester.”
