HEATHENS HERO SPEAKS OUT

Monday June 22, 2020
LANCE King has revealed how he loved his three seasons with Cradley - but felt let down at the end.

American ace King claims the club left it too late to inform him he wouldn't be required for the 1985 season.

Speaking exclusively in issue 3 of Dudley Wood Diary King admits it was his dream to join the Midland outfit and joining up with fellow American Bruce Penhall.

He said: "I was excited about joining Cradley because of the Bruce Penhall factor. It gave me the opportunity to live the dream.

“And when I was partnered with my hero, that was a dream come true for me and I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. It was amazing.

“But I do believe now though that the club delaying telling me I wasn’t in the team for 1985 until there was no open spots at other clubs was poor.

“I wasn’t happy with that and the way it was handled and it definitely had an impact on my career.”
